Alberto Núñez Feijóo has become the only candidate to meet the criteria for leadership of the PP, according to organisers of next months extraordinary meeting.
It means Mr. Feijóo will almost certainly become the party leader of the opposition after gaining over 55,000 endorsements – well above the 100 required to secure a nomination.
The only other contender for the position – 28-year-old Alexia Herranz – failed to reach the required number of endorsements.
Pablo Casado will remain as party leader until the start of April, when he will formally resign from the party leadership.
