A 64 year-old Alicante man has been arrested for reporting a fake crime in an attempt to defraud an insurance company. The man reported that he thought his wallet had been lifted by a female thief in a shopping centre, but changed it when he realised the theft wasn’t covered by his insurance policy, unless it was a robbery with violence.
Ten days later, the man suddenly ‘remembered’ that the woman had followed him home and attacked him, snatching his wallet. He was arrested for making a false insurance claim and will appear in court.
