The Province of Alicante has topped the list for domestic tourism in August. A recent study placed Alicante above the Spanish capital Madrid for domestic tourism. The figures were released as part of the study carried out by the National Institute of Statistics. The figures reveal that during August 1.2 million domestic tourists visited the Alicante region, whilst Madrid welcomed just over 1 million tourists.
