Policia Nacional in Benidorm have arrested a 58-year-old man who was wanted in his native Belgium for drug trafficking, fraud and being part of a criminal gang.
Police in Belgium had issued a detention order for the man, who was wanted in connection with a number of crimes and who was serving a ten-year-sentence when he absconded.
The man, who was detained after he tried to escape capture, has now been placed on remand ahead of his extradition hearing in the coming days.
