The British Embassy in Madrid has announced that Spanish authorities have extended the period of validity of UK driving licences in Spain. This is the third extension since Brexit saw UK-issued documents become unrecognised by the common EU framework, the first extension was announced in June 2021 and the second in October.
The two-month grace period gives UK licence holders who live in Spain and registered their intent to exchange their licence more time to do so. For those who didn’t register their intent, it offers more time to sit their Spanish driving test and obtain a Spanish licence.
