Callosa Tackles Squatters

Callosa de Segura has launched a digital campaign to allow residents to anonymously report squatting or overcrowding in homes. ‘Squat Alert’ is the first initiative of its kind to be used in the Valencian Community. The digital reporting is completed through the Alerta Okupa app, where a QR code is scanned to open a digital form. There is also the opportunity to include photographic evidence. In trials the programme resulted in a 50% drop in illegal squatting.
