Guardia Civil have recovered a 16th Century bronze cannon and have questioned seven people, after it disappeared from the sea bed the day after it was discovered.
Investigators believe the 425-year-old weapon, that is believed to have been carried on one of the ships involved in the Armada, may have been retrieved to be used as a decorative item in one of the seven peoples homes.
Shellfish fishermen discovered three cannons by accident a fortnight ago in Punta de Espiñeirido, and footage emerged of the historical item being lifted from the sea bed.
The items have been moved to the Vigo Sea Museum, whilst the seven have been questioned on suspicion of committing a cultural heritage offence.
