Electoral authorities in the Catalan region have said they are concerned over the number of people who have said they will not assist with the holding of the election a week on Sunday.
20% of those who have received legal requests to help on polling day have requested an exemption. At present 16,489 people have requested that they do not help with manning polling stations on the day.
In total 82,000 people have been summoned to assist in the regions election on the 14th February.
