Local residents have been left flabbergasted after a team of workmen from the Orihuela Town Hall turned up without prior notification, and began to close 100 metres of the paseo linking Aguamarina to Cabo Roig.
According to the council, the move follows a Supreme Court ruling stating the stretch is closed to all but residents of BellaVista Urbanisation. The closure now means a 3 kilometre detour for anyone wishing to walk from Aguamarina to Cabo Roig or beyond.
