Legal teams working for the Congress of Deputies have said that the Cortes’ lower house can open an investigation into the former Kings use of “black credit cards”.
In a report issued by lawyers for the Spanish parliament, they said that an investigative commission can be established over the emeritus kings use of bank cards in another persons name.
A formal decision is due to be made in the coming days over whether to open an inquest, with PSOE already saying they would not support any investigation – instead stating that it should be carried out by the Constitutional Court.
