
131 people lost their lives on the road network last month, according to the latest data published by the DGT.
The number of deaths increased by 5% compared to the same period in 2019, with 122 fatal accidents recorded on the national road system.
Just under 10% of those who died were found to not be wearing seatbelts, whcih may have saved their lives.
The Canaries saw 3 deaths on the islands roads, a decrease of 50%, whilst the Valencian community saw the number of road deaths rise by one, compared to the same period in 2019.
