The number of people who died on Spanish roads last year has been confirmed at 1,533, thats according to data released by the DGT this week.
It means last year saw the lowest nunber of deaths on the road network apart from 2020 when there were widespread lockdowns in place across the country.
Announcing the findings of the 2021 DGT Road Accident Report – Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande Marlaska – said there had been 222 less road deaths than in 2019.
7,784 people suffered serious injury in accidents, a fall of 10% on 2019 numbers.
The DGT has said it is still on target to halve the number of road deaths by 2030, and achieve a target of zero by 2050.
