The DGT has announced a new summer campaign that is hoped will reduce the number of fatalities and injuries during the busiest periods on Spanish roads.
Interior Minister – Fernando Grande-Marlaska – announced the new scheme during a press conference yesterday. In total an additional 28 drones and 16 new fixed radar points will be in use nationwide, whilst adverts will also remind drivers to maintain safety on the roads over the summer months.
Alongside the road safety campaign, the use of the new V-16 emergency light signal – which will replace the warning triangle in the next five years – will also pass into law.
Traffic forecasts suggest similar traffic levels as the summer of 2019, with an estimated 91.2 million journeys carried out.
