The DGT has issued a reminder that new speed limits of 30km/h have are to be introduced in urban areas from next month.
Spain will become the first country in the world to introduce the blanket speed limit in urban areas.
The legislation states that roads which share space with pedestrians will have a limit of 20km/h, urban roads with only one lane of traffic will have a 30km/h limit and roads with two lanes of traffic in each direction will have an upper restirction of 50km/h.
As well as improved road safety reasons, the limits will also improve air quality and reduce noise polution.
