An initiative aimed at raising awareness about correct waste recycling has begun in schools across Orihuela and the coast. The activity, aimed at third grade primary school students and organised by the Department of Urban Solid Waste and Street Cleaning, consists of a Little Mermaid play called “Ariel and Recycling” through which the children are taught about different types of waste and coloured recycling.
Children will also be made aware of the damage that plastic does to the environment and introduced to various crafts that they can do instead with this material. All this is done in a comical and playful way, through a performance with dancing and interaction with the children.
