The leader of the opposition – Alberto Núñez Feijóo – has been sworn in to the upper House in the Cortes, where he will face the prime minister as a senator.
In his first speech in the Senate, he accused the PSOE leader of making too many concessions to independence parties, criticising the pardoning of Catalan sepratists and the sacking of the head of the Spanish intelligence service over political phone hacking.
He was sworn in by the chair of the senate yesterday afternoon.
