Gilligan Trial on Hold

The trial of Irish drug lord John Gilligan has been put on hold after his son has claimed he cannot afford to fly from Ireland to appear at the trial, despite a court summons to do so. Prosecutors are calling for eight years for Gilligan who was arrested in Torrevieja in October 2020 and is charged with trafficking drugs and sleeping pills back to Ireland. Nearly 30,000 pills and a pistol were seized.
