The Government is due to approve next week the formation of the State Center for Public Health.
During a speech yesterday, Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez outlined the new body which will help focus health policy across the country, as well as deal with community health issues such as epidemics and pandemics.
It’s understood that it will have a budget of €9.45 million for its first year of operation.
Ministers are expected to give the green light to the new body during next Tuesday’s cabinet meeting.
