Health Department Head Resigns

Pilar Santos has resigned as head of Torrevieja Health Department, just one year after it returned to public management, with her replacement already being named as Jose Cano. Señor Cano has been director of the public health centre of the departments of Torrevieja and Orihuela since September 2003. The local medical service has been plagued by staffing issues and ever-increasing waiting lists since private management ended and the new head is charged with consolidation, reinforcing resources and offering best standards.
