An 80 year-old man has died at El Campello beach in a tragedy that has been attributed to the record temperatures. The man collapsed and died on Monday, one of the hottest days of the year. After being pilled semi-conscious from the sea, the tragedy was first thought to be a drowning. However, a statement given later by the Town Hall said this had been ruled out as a cause of death and heatstroke was believed to be responsible.
