Today is the first day of the XXVII Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government.
Originally planned for last year, the event was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
A record number of heads of state and senior politicians will attend the summit which is being held across the border in Andorra.
Yesterday prime minister Pedro Sanchez, along with King Felipe joined French President Emmanuel Macron and the Prime Minister of Portugal, António Costa along with counterparts from Chile and Costa Rica to issue calls for reform of global health systems to help tackle pandemics, as well as host meetings of business leaders from across member states.
150 Polica Nacional officers will be taking part in the security operation for the event.
