The Spanish Government has announced that the head of Spanish Intelligence Service – Paz Esteban – has lost her job.
Her sacking came as the scandal surrounding “Pegasus” phone hacking software continues.
Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, two other ministers and 18 Catalan separatists were all targeted by the software, with Mr. Sanchez the first leader to be targeted.
Defence Minister Margarita Robles confirmed the end of her position, with deputy defence minister Esperanza Casteleiro taking the role.
Yesterday the prime minister confirmed he will address the Congress of Deputies over the scandal on the 25th or 26th May, however opposition parties have said the dismissal is not enough, and are calling for more heads to roll.
