Prosecutors are to formally shelve two investigations into the financial affairs of the former King Juan Carlos.
The Supreme Court confirmed yesterday that they could not find any evidence of any illegal activity due to his former immunity as monarch and any crimes had fallen out of the statute of limitations.
The former king has paid backdated taxes worth €5.1 million. He left Spain when the probe was announced and moved to Abu Dhabi whist denying any wrongdoing.
