After many years of local residents being dissatisfied, the sewage plant that serves the Orihuela Costa is finally being upgraded. The works to improve the plant should start before 2022, according to the Councillor for Infrastructure, Ángel Noguera.
The work will expand the purification capacity of the Orihuela Costa station with the construction of a storage tank that will cater for periods of heavy rain-flow so that the treatment plant is not overwhelmed. The contract will also see improvements to treatment processes and the renovation of the area’s five wastewater pumping stations.
The amount of the investment will be 6,663,111 euros and the Generalitat’s Public Sanitation Company (EPSAR) has been included in the bidding process
