It’s emerged that an Irish drug lord who was arrested in Alicante in the middle of October was trying to re-establish himself in the Irish criminal underworld by purchasing drugs and firearms from Spain.
Convicted drug dealer John Gilligan was detained by Policia Nacional in a joint operation with Ireland’s Garda and the UK’s National Crime Agency.

He, and five others, were discovered with drugs including cannabis and pills, as well as a firearm in raids carried out the week before last. All have been remanded in custody whilst investigations are ongoing.
