Guardia Civil have discovered the largest find in Europe of stuffed and preserved animals in a warehouse near to Valencia.

Officers have arrested one person in connection with the taxidermy collection, which includes species that are nearly extinct or on endangered lists. Animals including the extinct oryx dammah or the endangered Bengal tiger were found, as well as elephants, crocodiles, lions and even a polar bear.

In total 1,090 specimens which covered a floor area of over 50,000 square metres was discovered, valued at over €29 million.
Officers found the warehouse in the town of Bétera, and have detained one person on suspicion of smuggling and causing a risk to the local environment.
