Organisations representing the LGBTI+ community in Spain have issued a call for the Government to appoint a special commissioner to tackle homophobia.
Three organisations have signed a joint letter to Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, calling for changes to the law and the appointment of a body to tackle an increase in homophobic attacks in recent months.
In their letter, they call for a change to the penal code, introdcuing specicic hate crime against a persons sexuality.
800 homophobic attacks have been recorded in Spain this year to date.
