The National Police for the Alicante Province are warning local residents of an increase in electronic scams through emails or text messages. The scammers pretend to be banks or large, well-known and trusted businesses, but use the fully branded messages to gain passwords, bank or card details.
Police experts are advising caution if the message is not personally addressed, contains spelling or grammatical errors, or ask to click on links. Always check the direct sender address by clicking on it, very often this will show the email is not legitimate.
