Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has announced an increase in government spending on the military of 2% – in line with NATO commitments.
During an interview on national TV yesterday, Mr. Sanchez confirmed that expenditure on the military is to rise, in an effort to prevent further invasions by Russia following the situation in Ukraine.
The news came as a yacht belonging to a Russian oligarch was seized in the port of Barcelona yesterday.
Measuring 85 metres in length, the vessel is valued at over $140 million.
It is one of three yachts that have been confiscated by Spain – they are currently moored in Barcelona, Mallorca and Melilla.
