
The number of monkey pox cases in Spain has risen to 59, after eight new results tested positive.
In an update from the Ministry of Health, they confirmed that nearly 100 cases were now under investigation, whilst 41 were ruled out as monkeypox.
48 of the infections have been recorded in Madrid, 4 in the Canary Islands, 2 in Andalusia and 2 in the Basque region.
Minister of Health – Carolina Darias – yesterday announced that Spain would join the EU vaccine and antiviral procurement scheme, which was set up during the coronavirus pandemic to purchase monkey pox vaccines and medicines.
