Minister of Foreign Affairs , José Manuel Albares, has said that diplomatic staff in Ukraine will not be evacuated from the country at the moment.
In a statement issued after yesterday’s EU Foreign Affairs Council, he said that whilst there are no current plans to remove staff from the embassy, the Government is poised to “react quickly” if necessary.
It came after the United States announced it was transporting the families of diplomats out from the country and the United Kingdom removing some embassy staff.
He went on to reiterate a call for diplomacy and dialogue between Russia and NATO in an effort to de-escalate tensions in the region.
Today Mr. Albares will address the Congress of Deputies over the situation in the region.
