The number of new vehicles registered last year failed to show a major increase across much of the country – due in part to the pandemic and a shortage of microchips.
Only the Canary Islands, the Balearic Islands and Madrid saw the number of vehicles sold increase compared to 2020 figures – with the rest of the country recording a fall in annual sales.
Compared to 2019 figures, the number of sale has collapsed on average 32%, with December being the worst month for new car sales.
The best selling vehicle brand in December was Peugeot, whilst the highest individual vehicle model sold was the Hyundai Tucson.
