National Police officers have arrested a 43-year-old Algerian man in Orihuela as the alleged perpetrator of a simulated crime.
The man told National Police Station he was the victim of an internet fraud crime, claiming someone had been using his credit card to make several online transactions.
After an investigation it was discovered that the expenses had been made entirely voluntarily by the alleged victim, who had subscribed to a prize draw website. Once confronted with the evidence the man admitted the lie and also revealed that his bank had already paid him part of what he’d claimed had been stolen.
