Torrevieja Hospital employees are calling for the resignation of their boss, after patients faced a huge wait in the emergency room. The situation got so bad the solo on-call doctor called the Guardia Civil to say he could not cope.
Waiting times were up to 17 hours with 34 people waiting to be seen, 20 patients in cubicles and 12 lying in stretchers in corridors.
The hospital committee has formally requested the resignation of Pilar Santos, the newly appointed chief following the change from private to public management.
