The parents of a two-year-old boy who died after falling down a well in 2019 have been told they will not receive any further compensation after the owner of the land where the accident occurred declared himself insolvent.
Farmer David Serrano was found guilty of reckless homicide after Julen fell down a 110 metre deep well near to the town of Totalán. Emergency services spent thirteen days drilling down to the location of the child in the hope that he had survived the fall.
Sadly Julen was found to have died almost instantly from his injuries when he fell.
Speaking on behalf of the family, they said they had not objected to the declaration of insolvency – and were only wanting answers to questions they still had surrounding the accident.
It’s understood the regional government is in the process of repossessing the farmland.
