Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has met with his German counterpart Olaf Scholz to discuss the ongoing cost of living crisis affecting Europe.
During their meeting at the Meseberg Palace in Germany, they discussed the proposed MidCat gas interconnector, which would pipe gas from Spain into France and the rest of the European Union – including Germany.
Yesterday evening, after a call with French President Emanuel Macron made by both leaders, it was confirmed that France would reconsider it’s earlier opposition to the proposed connection.
French Economy Minister – Bruno Le Maire – said the French government would study the proposals and make a new decision in the coming weeks.
Last week the Spanish government said a new pipeline could be in use within a year.
