Pensioner Impaled on Railing

A 71-year-old man impaled his arm on an iron railing after he slipped whilst he was working in his garden in Los Altos, Torrevieja. The seriously injured man had to be freed by the fire service in a complicated rescue. Firefighters used an electric saw to remove part of the railing and the man was taken to Torrevieja hospital with a section of the railing still in his arm so it could be removed by doctors.
