Several environmental and neighbourhood groups across the Vega Baja have argued to both the Alicante and Murcia sub-delegations against the proposed “Rojalinda” power plant. This facility would occupy almost 100 hectares of natural area near the Murcia mountains. The main bone of contention is the 23km high-voltage aerial power line and nearly one hundred electrical towers up to 24 meters high that would cross seven municipalities of the Vega Baja. There are also numerous environmental objections.
