The heavy rain on Friday saw up to 78 litres of rain per square meter cause havoc across the Vega Baja. The intense rain caused flooding in several areas, especially Torrevieja and Orihuela Costa. Local Friday markets were cancelled as roads turned into rivers and one woman had to be rescued from her car by Policia Local officers in Dehesa de Campoamor when she tried to drive through a notorious floodplain.
