Minister of Health, Salvador Illa, has refused to say whether the planned regional elections next month in Catalonia should be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
During a press conference yesterday, the minister – who is also standing as a candidate in the ballot – said that any decision on changing the date of the vote from the 14th February needs to be agreed by all parties.
Mr Illa has faced criticism from members of his own coalition after he announced his candidacy in the vote, with opposition party members calling for his resignation to prevent a conflict of interest in the election.
