Pedro Sanchez has held talks with his German and Portuguse counterparts yesterday to discuss the ongoing energy crisis in Europe, and how to increase supply across the continent.
The Prime Minister met with Olaf Scholz and António Costa whilst in Berlin, to hold talks on the Midcat gas pipeline – in what is being seen as a way to increase pressure of French President Emanuel Macron to approve the proposed connection.
After the meeting it was agreed that the topic of interconnectors would be raised during this months European Council meeting which is due to take place later this week.
French authorities say there is no need for the pipeline at present, due to there being capacity on existing infrastructure.
