The Ministry of Health has confirmed a second death due to monkeypox – it was confirmed on Saturday.
Whilst no details were issued over the deceased, it was the second death in as many days due to the virus, which are understood to be the first confirmed deaths since it’s outbreak in the EU.
Currently there have been 3,750 cases confirmed in Spain, with 120 of those requiring hospitalisation. Vaccination of around 5,000 high risk people is underway across the country.
Last Saturday the WHO declared the monkeypox outbreak a global health emergency.
