
The highest daily covid-19 death toll since April has been recorded, after a further 724 lost their lives after testing positive for the coronavirus. The death toll has risen now to 59,805, and confirmed cases rise to 2,851,869 since the pandemic began.
Concerns over occupancy of intensive care beds is starting to increase again, after eight regions have reported over 40% occupancy of available ICU beds with covid-19 patients.
La Rioja currently has 71% of its intensive care beds occupied, with the Valencian region reporting the second highest percentage of ICU occupation.
The news came as the Government announced it is restricting travel with Brazil and South Africa from tomorrow.
New flight restrictions still allow residents and citizens of Spain or Andorra to fly back.
Also some travellers from those countries will be able to fly into Spain if they stay in the airport and have less than a 24-hour layover.
