Guardia Civil officers have confiscated over 150,000 counterfeit toys in inspections of goods by officers nationwide.
As part of a Europewide operation, members of the Guardia working with Europol and the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) seized items from over 1,900 sellers who were believed to be selling smuggled and illegally labelled toys.
41 people have faced investigation for their involvement in the arrival of the dangerous playthings on Spanish shores.
The operation – called Ludus – involved another 24 countries across the globe and has removed over 5 million dangerous toys from the market, with a value of over €16 million.
