Three crew members who were on board the first drug carrying submarine have pleaded guilty to the transportation of drugs, and are facing up to 13 years in prison and fines of over €300 million.
During the hearing at the central court in Pontevedra, three of those who were in the vessel admitted to sailing from Brazil to Spain in the makeshift submersible. One Spaniard and two Ecuadorians were discovered when the submarine was located in September 2019.
A further four are standing trial, who have yet to enter pleas in connection to the case.
The boat was discovered carrying over 3000 tablets of cocaine, with a street value of around €123 million.
