Tributes have been paid after a firefighter died whilst tackling a forest fire in Malaga.
Nearly a thousand people have been evacuated from their homes, after 2167 hectares of land was scorched by the fire between Estepona, Benahavís, Jubrique and Genalguacil, the cause of which is currently unknown.
The AP-7 motorway has also been closed in two sections due to the rapid spread of the fire. The blaze was first reported on Wednesday night at around 9.40, with strong winds fanning the flames.
250 emergency teams are currently working on tackling the fire, with a level 1 alert issued for the region.
