Tributes have been paid after two Spanish journalists named as David Beriain and Roberto Fraile, along with the Irish director of a wildlife foundation, were ambushed and murdered in eastern Burkina Faso.
The countrys government confirmed the deaths of the three late last night, following on from reports of an attack on an anti-poaching patrol on Monday.
Consular staff are working with local authorities to return the bodies of the deceased back to their home countries.
The two journalists were working on a documentary on how Burkina Faso’s authorities were tackling poaching.
