Negotiators in this weeks EU-US trade talks have confirmed that tariffs on olive oil from Spain are to be suspended for at least five years.
The news came as a dispute between Boeing and Airbus was also resolved, providing a boost for the European aviation giant who has a number of facilities here in Spain.
Tariffs on Spanish Olive Oil was valued at over a billion euros. Other Spanish food products have also had their taxes suspended, including cheese, wine and meats.
Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto, said the outcome was “a good result” for the European Union and for Spain.
