Twenty volunteers have helped to remove invasive exotic plants from La Mata Natural Park as part of the “Restoring Habitats” project. The volunteers, accompanied by experts and park staff, eliminated Moorish or pigeon pea tobacco, an invasive species that grows uncontrollably around the picnic area and poses a threat to the native flora. The project will also include days of rubbish collection and workshops for the construction and installation of nesting boxes.
