Weather agency Aemet has issued a warning over hot weather that is expected to arrive from today in parts of the country.
Amber and yellow weather alerts have been issued with temperatures expected to exceed 40ºC by the weekend.
Parts of the west of Spain are expected to see stifling heat in the coming days due to the passage of warm air coupled with a high pressure system moving across the country.
The Canary Islands as well as mainland Spain will also see significant increases in temperatures, as the weather system moves across Spain and northern Africa bringing with it calima conditions.
